Georg Jensen Bernadotte Cocktail Bar Set 819A 819B 819D Danish Sterling Silver

Super stylish Scandinavian Modern sterling silver bar set. Made by Georg Jensen in Copenhagen, ca 1950. This set comprises cocktail shaker, ice bucket, and 4 cocktail cups on tray. Cocktail shaker: Cylindrical with flat and inset cover, short diagonal spout with chained cap, and lobed bracket handle. Ice bucket: Conical with swing-mounted lobed bracket handle and spread foot. Cup: Tapering sides and short spread foot. Tray: Round with deep well and flat shoulder. Geometric forms with engraved grid patterns that are representative of Sigvard Bernadotte’s designs.
Bernadotte was the second son of the king of Sweden. He began life as a prince but was forced to renounce the royal title in 1934, when he married the woman he loved, who was a German commoner. It was an abdication that freed Mr Bernadotte (as he was now known) to become an influential industrial designer, whose products ranged from typewriters to eyeglass frames to luxe barware for the preeminent Danish silversmith.
All pieces fully marked including designer’s stamp and no. 819A (tray), 819B (shaker and cups), and 819D (bucket). Cocktail shaker, tray, and cups have postwar maker’s stamp (1945-77), and ice bucket has Wendel maker’s stamp (1945-51). Excellent condition.
